Dr Martin Luther king was known for his speech 'I have a dream'.In 1958, while writing an advice column for Ebony Magazine, Rev. King responded to a young "gay" man looking for guidance.
The 'gay' man asked MLK, "My problem is different from the ones most people have. I am a boy, but I feel about boys the way I ought to feel about girls. I don't want my parents to know about me. What can I do? Is there any place where I can go for help?"
And here is MLK's response: "Your problem is not at all an uncommon one. However, it does require careful attention. The type of feeling that you have toward boys is probably not an innate tendency, but something that has been culturally acquired. Your reasons for adopting this habit have now been consciously suppressed or unconsciously repressed. Therefore, it is necessary to deal with this problem by getting back to some of the experiences and circumstances that led to the habit. In order to do this I would suggest that you see a good psychiatrist who can assist you in bringing to the forefront of conscience all of those experiences and circumstances that led to the habit. You are already on the right road toward a solution, since you honestly recognize the problem and have a desire to solve it."
In other words, Rev MLK believed that what the boy was feeling was induced by his past experiences and not because he was born that way. When one have been repeatedly being molested, abused or harassed sexually by family, friends , neighbors or even strangers, it can make one sexually deviant. Someone who is continually exposed to these strange lifestyles , especially in a culture where homosexuality is acceptable and seen everyday on the streets, internet, neighborhood or in the very home, there is every chance that person may adopt the deviant lifestyle because the people around him make him think it's normal. It's psychology. Donnie McClurkin, the gospel minister, was once gay. He confessed to having had a tumultuous childhood where was sexually molested by someone.
Once, Pst Chris Oyakhilome asked his congregation who created the devil. Some shouted, "God!". Then he said, "No. The devil created himself. He made himself what he is. The angel, called Lucifer, whom God created was perfect in beauty and in songs. It was the devil who decided to rebel and become Satan, the enemy of God. God didn't create him that way."
Just like the devil, God didn't create anybody to be homosexual. They were not 'born this way' rather they were 'made this way'. So being gay isn't natural. Nobody is born with it. It's just a perverse life style produced by a faulty past. Thank God for people like Pst Donnie, Joyce Meyer. If God can deliver them, He can deliver anyone who is struggling with this sin. Let's stop justifying homosexuality by claiming that 'they are born this way'. God can't contradict His Word.
