A TRUE LIFE STORY YOU MUST READ: THE CURSE OF THE UNKNOWN
He worked in a construction company. Things were going pretty well for him until he decided to bring in a woman to cook for him and probably warm his bed.
It was only a matter of time when the woman started pressing him to marry her. She wanted something more permanent probably because she felt he was using her. She insisted that if she was playing wife in his house, he might as well put a ring on it. But he adamantly let her know that he had no intention whatsoever to settle down with her. Even his father refused that he should be married to her, a woman who was once married and her husband died.
So one day, he returned home as usual to find that his house was literally burglarized and his woman gone. She made away with nearly all his house hold properties.
From then on, things turned for the worse. He began having issues with his firm, so when his contract with them expired, he got disengaged. He sold his car to make ends meet. For years he struggled, seeking help from friends as he tried to get back on his feet.
He relocated to another state to find greener pastures but to no avail. Whatever he touched withered.
His situation made him conclude that the woman was diabolical, that she could be the source of his misfortunes. What did he do?! Is there any hope for his recovery?
Like this young man, our decisions can cost us our life time. Though there is a possibility that the ‘used woman’ was diabolical, still it could be that this young man is merely reaping what he had sown. Most times we are the very inventors of our own problems. In making our choices in life, caution should be applied because these choices can make or mar our future. Something built over years can be destroyed in a second just because of a wrong decision. Though we may have made mistakes in the past, God is very able to restore everything we may have lost when we turn to Him. He gives beauty for ashes.
Always choose righteousness.

A DATE WITH THE DEVIL: A TRUE LIFE STORY
Henry was my room mate. He was the only son of his parents and was studying accountancy in the University. He was known among his friends for his wittiness, smartness, stubbornness and his overly ambitious spirit. He knew how to get what he wanted, be it girls, money, attention etc. Coupled with his good looks, he was the toast of the ladies on Campus. He made friends with people notorious in school for their bad behavior. They had lots of girl friends and were always clubbing, smoking and having 'fun'. With fashion, girls and fun as their priority, lectures and studies were hardly attended to. Through one of their discussions in the room, I got a hunch that they were celebrated cultists back in their secondary school days. Henry and his friends were just freshers. They were in first year!
Now on several occasions a colleague of his, who also was our room mate, had spoken to him about his quick lifestyle. He pointed out to him how people with such life pattern had ended up in the times past. But as you can rightly guess, Henry did not concede rather he worsened. I moved to another hostel a year later so I lost contact with Henry. Years later I ran into a former room mate and inquired after Henry and the story he told me was gory and heart rending.
Henry had followed his wild life style and joined a cult group in school. In a cult clash, Henry humiliated the Capon of the rival cult. The crowd at the scene hailed him and jeered the Capon. It made Henry feel like he was on top of the world. He was going to rule the campus, enjoy himself to the fullest and nothing would stop him. That was his resolution. Little did he know, he was having a date with the Devil.
One night, as Henry had his dinner at the open grounds near his hostel at the food vendors' stand, two people approached him from the shadows. Taking their positions by his sides as he sat there on the bench, they commanded him to calmly stand up and follow them. They had a hidden gun pressed to his side, ready to take a shot once he makes a false move. Taking him away from the public view, they made for a dark corner behind one of the hostels. There they brutally attacked Henry with clenched fists and axes. They mutilated him, gouged out his eyes and hung him from a tree. So did Henry die. His life was wasted and his future terminated.
The next morning,as the medical students trouped to the Anatomy lab for their usual classes, they were greeted by the gory sight of Henry's mutilated body as it dangled from a nearby tree. Screams and shouts rent the air and the fearful ones took to their heels except for the few courageous ones who took a step closer to identify the body. It was surely a gloomy day on campus as friends, colleagues and acquaintances of Henry expressed their shock. Henry was gone...forever.
The Bible says that the wages of sin is death (Rom 6:23). If, like Henry, you still choose to live on the fast lane, bear this in mind that you are on a date with the Devil. It will only end in destruction. For the Devil's mission is to kill, steal and destroy (John 10:10). I wonder what was going on in the mind of Henry while he was ambushed, beaten and as he breathed his last. Did he come to realize the vanity of the path he had chosen or the futility of the decisions he had made? Did he long for a second chance? Hmm. Unlike him, you have an opportunity right now to make amends and give your life to God through Christ. Make that decision now because tomorrow may be too late. Why not have a date with Jesus tonight? For He has come to give you life and life in abundance(John 10:10).
