I am super excited this morning after reading Philippians 1:9-11. Actually this Scripture is what I am working with this year, 2018. It is everything I want to become.
I want to love more and grow in knowledge and understanding. My theme for this year is 'Get into the Word' and everyday, God is opening my eyes to see that everything I need is in His Word!
But you know how fresh and dynamic God's Word can be each time you study it, right? Wow! I am literally thrilled. You know when you receive Rhema, when you receive that revelation in your spirit, it just lights up inside of you. That's the way I am feeling right now. Hahahahaha! Awesome.
For the past few days, God has put a word (or a sentence) in my spirit after I read Luke 10: 38-42. Only one thing matters. Just one. Nothing else matters but that singular thing. And that should be our focus. God has made life simple but we humans made it all complicated. It is Ecclesiastes. One thing matters. That's what Jesus told
Martha.
We are pursuing a lot of spiritual projects, saddled with a lot of spiritual responsibilities yet, only one thing matters. Most often it is that one thing which matters that we neglect. Oh God! I wish God would open our eyes to see! I am bubbling inside me right now.
Paul said same in Philippians 1:9-10.
"I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep growing in knowledge and understanding. For I want you to understand what really matters so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ's return..."
Pay attention to the words I underlined.
"...to understand 'what really matters' " means it's a singular thing. Paul didn't say 'things that matter' or 'some things that matter'. He said 'what really matters'. One thing. Not two.
What exactly is that thing? Luke 10: 38-42.
Why do you need to discover that one thing that matter? Because when we do, it is what makes us live a pure and blameless life till Jesus comes.
The reason why the world pursue what they pursue is because they have not discovered that one thing that really matters. It's not money. It's not beauty. It's not marriage. It's not children. It's definitely not power.
The reason why some Christians run helter skelter is because they have not discovered this truth - that only one thing matters. That's why a whole lot of us are under pressure and spiritually stressed.
Have you discovered that one thing?
But let me show you what the Holy Spirit showed me that got me crazy excited.
Paul said, "For I want you..." Please read from !I pray that your love..." you will see what I am about to say.
It is impossible for you to discover that one thing that matters if you do not grow in love (for God and men), and also grow in knowledge and understanding (of God)!
The only way the Holy Spirit keeps us in line with God's will is when we grow in love, in knowledge and in understanding. And it is will not happen when we don't spend time with God. When we do not study God's Word. Until we work hard at growing in love, knowledge and understanding, we will never discover what really matters.
Have you discovered what matters? That is you ticket to living a pure and blameless life which glorifies God.
Only one thing matters!!
