International spiritual organisation The Aetherius Society describes itself as a “growing religion with a global following”.
The group is planning a “cosmic mission” to “holy mountain” Holdstone Down in north Devon, where founder George King apparently came face to face with Christ in 1958.
Mr King, who died in 1997, claims he heard a voice appointing him as an “earthly representative” of an “interplanetary parliament” in the 1950s.
The pilgrimage to the mountain, dubbed “Operation Prayer Power” will take place on Saturday, July 28.
According to the group’s website, the mission will see “spiritual power invoked through prayer and mantra and directed into a specially designed physical container for later release”.
Mr King, a cabbie, revealed his “experience” of meeting Jesus at the top of Holdstone Down Hill.
Speaking in an earlier documentary, he said: “Dimly out of the corner of my eye I saw something in the sky.
“Then I saw a being which kind of appeared before me – I didn’t see him walk up to me, I opened my eyes and he was there."
"He was very tall, he was dressed in a long robe, he had long brownish hair - there was so much radiance around the man," Mr King continued.
"I knew, although he didn't tell me, I knew he was Jesus and he had come from the planet Venus - I didn't have to be told, I just knew this.
"I think it was some sort of telepathic impression that I picked up. There was no denying it and there was no denying his presence."
Mr King claimed he was told by “inter-planetary sources” the mountain was holy.
He added: "That's why we use Holdstone Down because we really truly believe that it is holy."Two decades after his death, the annual pilgrimage continues.
