Lots of people came around to celebrate a christmas demon called Krampus, said to be the evil version of Santa Claus who goes about punishing bad children.
Half demon and half goat the Krampus is rooted in early pagan mythology and came to be associated with Christmas in the 17th century.
Every December 5th the beast is said to come and punish the kids who have misbehaved.
During the festival you will see showmen dressed in devilish garb parading through the streets and horned demons brandishing flares run down the streets with their satanic silhouettes.
The festivity is popular in Austria and Germany.
