What God promised Abraham was humanly impossible.
v18 says that, "Abraham believed God even though such a promise just couldn’t come to pass!"
What was the promise? To give him a son (in his old age) who would have many descendants and become a great nation.
But despite the odds and the impossibility of the situation, Abraham didn't reason it. He simply believed because God said so.
v19
says, "...he didn't worry about the fact that he was too old to be a
father..., and that Sarah his wife...was too old to have a baby..."
because his faith was strong.
v20 says,
"Abraham never doubted. He believed God, for his faith and trust grew
stronger, and he praised God for this blessing even before it happened.
He was completely sure that God was able to do anything He promised."
At this point I said to myself, "Ok, that was Abraham. Let us bring it to the now - what about you?"
There
are a whole lot of us like Abraham going through impossible situations.
You probably have waited to birth a child of your own for years now. In
fact, the doctor has told you it's impossible for you to conceive
because you have no womb. Or you have searched and searched for a job, 1
year, 2 years, 3 years...nothing.
You even
begin to feel incompetent as years roll by. How? Who would give an
inexperienced person like me a job? These are few examples of common day
to day impossible situations.
But stop a minute now and ask yourself, "But what did God say concerning me?"
He said, "My thoughts for you are for good and not for evil to bring you to a future and an expected end."
That's
to say - God has a future for you and an end He expects for you. It's a
done deal. He is simply leading you to it. Though the journey to the
destination is bumpy, filled with pressure and pain yet all we can do
and should do is do what Abraham did...trust Him.
Really
right now I am speaking to myself. I embrace this message as mine.
These past few years have not been easy for me but God has taught me a
whole lot, and I wouldn't trade that for anything in the world.
Despite
the impossibility of your situation, don't human-reason it or you will
get discouraged and doubtful. God-reason it. See it the way God sees it.
"What are thou oh mountain, for before *Mitchelle (put your name) you
shall become a plain!"
"This is what the
doctor said..., this is what I am seeing...but this is what God says. He
says I will get a job. He says I will carry my own children. He said..,
He said..., He said..."
Go on and confess what He said and back it up with Scriptures. While you are at it, do what Abraham did:
Believe
God. Don't worry. Never doubt. Let your faith be strong. Stay
completely sure that God will do it. Praise God for this blessing even
before it happens.
Praise God like you already
have what you are asking for. Praise Him for that job, that car, that
child, that husband, that wife, for that breakthrough! Praise Him. Thank
Him. It's an act of faith to thank God for something you haven't
received (physically) and guess what? God will respond. He will deliver
your miracles to you in His own good time. Trust in his timing.
*Here's
my resolution: from now on, I am gonna keep thanking God and praising
Him for what He has promised me even before I receive it. Wait for my
testimony o. Lol. You can do same with me from now on so you can share
your testimony with us when it manifests.
