Some men shaa. I know once in a while couples go silent on themselves for sometime after a row but this Japanese man's own is outrageous.

20 whole years of not talking to his wife and yet he is living with her and their three children under the same roof.

Despite his wife Yumi's perseverance to make conversation with him (Otou) all these years, all she receives from him was either a nod or grunt.

Until their 18 year old son, Yoshiki, reached out to a TV show asking them to help fix the situation.

So a meeting was arranged between Otou and Yumi at the park where they had their first date while their emotional children watched on.

And the chat went thus:

'Somehow it's been a while since we talked.

'You were so concerned about the kids.

'Yumi up until now, you have endured a lot of hardship. I want you to know I'm grateful for everything.'

As to why he had been cold towards her, he explained it was out of jealousy.

*I give it to his wife. She really is a strong woman. When communication breaks down in a marriage, it is very capable of tearing that marriage apart.
