Popular Evangelist confesses to sex outside marriage and encouraging women he slept with to use morning after pill
Clayton Jennings, an evangelist, author and poet said he had sinned a lot and has canceled all his speaking engagements and stepped away from ministry to focus on his "marriage, his renewal and his spiritual formation."
Multiple women came forward about Jennings' sexual behavior and claimed he asked them to use the morning-after pill.
In his Facebook confessional video, Jennings says, "I could tell you stories of my past sin, but I wouldn't know when to stop. I had sex before marriage and I broke a lot of hearts.
And that's not even the worst part. Sometimes it was during seasons of ministry. I led some girls on, and there were text messages of sex and sin."
But the beautiful thing about this is the fact that Jennings is deeply remorseful and repentant over his past sins and in the spirit of accountability, has agreed to the process of restoration.
*We make mistakes (that makes us human) but when we find our way back, repenting genuinely, God is ever ready to forgive us.
Thank God Jennings didn't feel comfortable in his sin but saw the need for repentance and restoration. Thank God he chose to step out of the spot-light to spend a lone time with God and heal spiritually.
Jesus has given us power to overcome sin. It's not in the nature of a child of God to sin or make sin a habit, that's why once we realize that somehow we have mis-stepped, we quickly come back to Him confessing our sins. No one is perfect (only Jesus).
We all make mistakes but this should not make us tolerant to sin when we find such in our lives. We do away with it immediately. Because a child of God hates sin in all its shape and form.
"No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God's seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God." 1 John 3:9
