You can call this a rant because I am saddened by what is happening in the churches especially when it comes to money issues. It's now hard to differentiate who some pastors are serving: God or Mammon?
“I rather take my money and give it to
orphanages and the poor rather than give it to the church! These people are
thieves!”
You know what? I don’t
blame those who say this. These people have lost faith in the Church. When they
hear Church, what they hear is exploitation. When they see Church, what they
see are thieves.
I sat thinking to myself
the other day: The money people give in tithes and offering does not belong to
the pastor, it belongs to God and should solely be used, not for the pastor’s
personal needs, but for God’s work. Any misuse of these funds or monies, the
pastor is accountable to the people and even more fearfully, God.
To put a check on these
excesses,
1.
A pastor should be on salary. The church
may be founded by him but it is definitely not his personal business. It is the
right thing for him to be placed on salary and allowances as decided by the BoT
or elders of the church.
2.
A pastor should not be
the sole signatory to the church’s account. In other words, he shouldn’t have easy
access to the church funds without it passing through other co-signatories to
the account.
3.
A pastor should be
accountable. People serving in the church have a right to know how church funds are spent and help make sure it is not redirected into
someone’s personal account.
For me,this is a wise thing for pastors to do to avoid unnecessary temptation.
It’s baffling how some
pastors use God’s money to furbish themselves, build schools that most of their
church members can’t afford, buy private jets in the name of God, live in luxury,
go on vacations etc, yet some of their church members are not doing well or have access to such lives.
The pastors take and
take and never give back. They forget the poor in their midst, that they need
to reach out and bless their congregation, help those who are financially
low to build up, develop schemes for
financial empowerment, show love to the committed members who have faithfully
served in their denomination. Smh.
These pastors ought to
be servants but they rather want to be served. This is not the Spirit of Jesus.
Because of the love of money they’ve missed it. God’s money is not for a
pastor’s private pocket. It is for evangelism, helping the poor, widow and
orphans and blessing the members of the church, especially those who need
financial support.
Let’s always pray for
our pastors. Their position is a tricky one and the devil is always after their
neck because he knows that when he strikes the shepherd, the sheep will
scatter. And while you pray for your pastor, look unto Jesus alone and don’t be
discouraged. Let only Jesus remain your Standard.
*Thank God for the Pastors who still stand true.
Who are the ones that still stand true? Tell me any that has not enriched himself through his so called church? Why is it that all manner of churches have filled the whole place if not for the sole purpose of collecting and pocketing offering and tithe? I have said it if not that i have a personal encounter with God and convinced that He really is alive i would have stopped being a christian because of what is happening in churches today. But i thank God they cannot affect my relationship with my God and maker. I have decided within me not to be paying much attention to these wolves called pastors, they dont even preach the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ again it's only tithe and offering that is being preached every now and then on sundays. They dont have anointing, they cant cast a demon out, they cant heal the sick. They just cant do anything to help solve any of your spiritual problems so why are you a pastor? Why should i call you daddy or mummy? I can go on and on it's so disheartening. God have mercy.
ReplyDeleteI love the words you used - personal encounter with God. That's what every Christian needs to have to stay strong through these trying times.
ReplyDeleteLet's not be discouraged. Even the Holy Spirit, in the time of the early Christians, said things like this will happen.
Let's look unto Jesus alone. Hold on to the faith to which you have been called.
All the best.
