Laurie Idahosa shared this picture of a Rev's daughter's wedding gown and some of the commenters were not pleased with the wedding dress because it was too low cut, exposing a whole lot of cleavage.

However reacting to the comment, Bishop Feb Idahosa’s wife responded;
"Is that all you see when you see these pictures? Please permit me to say,… you may be the one who needs to make a change, not her. Judging is really frowned at in the Word of God… probably equal to if not more than immodesty. I should do a study on that, actually. Christians are so quick to judge one another. Its simply unhealthy. There are ways to advise and correct without being judgmental. This couple is God-fearing and are both ministers themselves. They have an awesome kingdom impact. I was impressed yesterday, for real! God bless you."
"hmmmm…. and strangely enough, I didn’t notice it at all. We must train our eyes not to see people according to the flesh. II Cor. 5:16"
"may God deliver us from this kind of judgementalism. Where in the Bible does it say that your clothing is a pre-requisite for eternal salvation? Where does it say that a Pastor should forbid a bride from marrying if she is wearing a strapless dress? These mentalities are culture driven, not Bible driven. Yes, the Bible advises us on our attire, but it doesn’t do so in either of the instances you are citing (salvation and wedding). Please understand the Word properly. Saying that she is dressed like a prostitute is a very harsh thing for any woman to say to another, especially on her wedding day. Please be guided by the whole truth of the Word of God. If you were, you couldn’t make a comment to another child of God in this way. God bless you as you grow in your faith and knowledge of His Word."
*A whole lot of times we hide under the guise of 'Do not judge' in order not to face or say the truth. There is nothing wrong with pointing out that something is wrong but the question is, how do you go about it? Are you doing so judgmentally or doing it in love?
Judgement comes with condemnation and that is strictly God's business. Our business is to say the truth/correct in love. These days even we Christians use the phrase 'do not judge' to do wrong. What's wrong is wrong and really I'm kind of disappointed that these people who are of course born again should wear such a revealing dress. Yes, I will say it.
The Kingdom of Heaven has a culture, a lifestyle, a way we do things, a way we dress, a way we talk etc. We cover up. You can still look sexy covered. In fact you are sexier when you are covered up. It shows you respect God and your body. But when we begin to condone such provocative dressing in church, then the church has a big problem. The Bible says that friendship with the world is enmity with God. You can't be on the two sides at once.
What am I saying? I will call this dress provocative and inappropriate. The world doesn't see our hearts, it's our fruits they see. What then will they think when they see 'a child of God' dressed like this? It makes us no different from them when we adopt their lifestyle. How can we effectively share Jesus with them when we do exactly what they are doing? So, yes, this is wrong.
You think I'm judging? Oh, no. I will say the truth in love because I am very much aware of my imperfections too. We are all in the race. No one has arrived. If we don't say the truth to one another, a whole lot of things will go wrong. We will begin to tolerate certain worldly fashions and lifestyles because we do not want to judge. Sad.

I respect your person Ma, but a Rev daughter’s breast should have more covered. Set an example please. Actually, is the first thing I saw . But the spirit of God in us control the physical Ma. Beside, I was not judging the couple, I just made an observation. God bless Ma.

Waoh I love your red pen here mitchy baby. You nailed it, I'm very sure your church is not Rccg. You're really on point in your christian values. I'm tempted to ask which church you attend.
ReplyDeleteLol. Heard of FWC?
DeleteNoooo, FWC? What is it? Is that the name of your church? Explain more please.
ReplyDeleteOK I googled it and I saw Family Worship Centre and it's in Abuja. So it's not in Lagos? I love where the preach the real word of God not the watered down one.
ReplyDeleteYeah, FWC is an awesome church, and there are still so many awesome Bible based churches around too.
DeleteBut more than just attending church, we should take our time to get into the Word, study it and know God for ourselves.
Our knowledge of God should not just be based on what our pastor told us but what God told us as a result of our personal relationship with Him at our secret place.
Else, one may still attend a Bible-based church and still not be grounded in God's Word because he has refused to know God personally and beyond what he hears in church.
That's why I will always encourage people: Study the Word of God for yourself, know Him personally, allow God reveal Himself to you. That's what the Holy Spirit is here to do, to teach us about God!
