Man shares some of the ways he was able to get to a place of desiring no other woman but his wife...(A must read)

This man, John Piper, has never felt enticed to have sex with another woman for almost 50 years he has been married to his wife.

In a letter to 'a would-be adulterer' Piper said he has "never been attracted to another woman romantically" and has "never desired sexual relations with another woman". 

The only woman he has been sexually attracted to for the past five decades is his wife of 48 years, Noel.

Not that he is disinterested in sex or does he have deficient hormones nor is he immune to temptations but he takes certain steps to ensure he is not enticed.

One of it is - Zero tolerance for nudity in films. He says sexually charged images can lodge in his mind and it will have regrettable effects. In other words control what you allow into your mind.

He shared some of the ways he was able to get to a place of desiring no other woman but his wife.

1. Ask God to take away any desire for any woman other than your wife. 

For Piper, he considers it a pure gift of God that he has never found another woman sexually attractive.

2. Feel how revolting and disgusting adultery truly is. It's not just about believing adultery is morally wrong but actually feeling sickened by it. 

Ever since he fell in love with Noel in 1966, Piper said the very thought of touching another woman sexually became disgusting, sickening.

He said, "The thought of having sex with any other woman besides Noël feels as nauseating to me as the prospect of having sex with a man. God worked a miracle to make adulterous touching not just morally wrong, but physically revolting. That is one of the greatest works of divine grace I have ever experienced."

3. Don't trade permanent pleasures for temporary trysts.
As his desire for real "Pleasure in God" grew stronger, his physical revulsion toward sexual sin also grew in proportion.

To him, it was a choice between brief physical sensations or something much more substantial and lasting and satisfying.

"In other words, sexual immorality cuts off the wings that lift us toward the highest, richest, most durable Joy," he wrote.

*I know God wants us to come to the point of being 'dead' to sin. The world will look at this and say that Piper is not normal. "Maybe he has a medical condition," they'd say but the reality is that this man has made a choice to be sexually pure, asked for God's help and has grown to that point that no woman other than his wife 'moves' him.

We can get to that point too. It all starts with a decision and a request for God's help. Let's grow dead to sin and sexual immorality.

So don't say it is impossible. Whatever you believe is impossible will be impossible to you. We can do all things through Christ that strengthens us.
