Kinbaku: This dangerous sex practice is leaving many indulging couples with injuries

Kinbaku means tight binding, a Japanese style of bondage that involves tying up a person with several ropes in simple yet intricate patterns.

It seems to be the latest pop - BDSM though it is said to have been around for centuries now. Those who are BDSM fetishists derive sexual pleasure from pain.

The practice of Kinbaku comes with an increase in injuries and because people who indulge in it are ashamed, many of these incidents are going unreported.

Some of their reasons is shame and fear for their professional reputation and worry that the police will treat the case as an assault rather than an accident between two consenting adults.

The injuries occur when the ropes aren't correctly tied and can result in limb necrosis and serious injury.

There's also a risk of whiplash, neck injuries, burns from hot candle wax, jaw problems from biting the rope and other items, dislocated joints, and nerve issues.

A doctor said concerning this disturbing sexual trend, "There are some injuries too much for me to handle. There are a lot of cases where the men who injure the women aren't willing to pay the medical fees."
