Nigerian-American actress, Yvonne Orji talks about balancing her life as an actress and a born again Christian
Is really possible to be born-again and still act in secular movies?
Yvonne Orji is a Nigerian-American actress best known for her role as Molly in the HBO series 'Insecure'.
Though in real life she is a born-again 33 Y-O virgin, in HBO's Insecure she (as Molly Carter) is a fan of casual sex and profanity.
According to Christian post, Orji said that her Christian lifestyle does not change just because of the roles she takes on.
I believe it is though it's going to be really challenging cos truth is your faith will continually be put to test. It's going to be you standing against the crowd. Still it's in our power to choose what roles to play and what clothes we wear while on set.
For instance, if my role is to be a prostitute in a movie, I can as well look and act as one without necessarily baring my privates. And yes, the message of the movie matters a whole lot to me.
As long as the message of the movie is positive and does not glorify what the world glorifies today, it's fine by me. Let's make a difference in the world. We can't win souls by staying on our own. We mingle so with the help of the Holy Spirit, we can influence our world for Jesus.
I pray Yvonne stays true to her faith.

"For me, faith and Christianity
— there's no separating it for me and my walk. I don't take my
Christianity off and put on my acting. I'm just me. I love
being Nigerian, I love to laugh and I love Jesus," Orji said
Still, some do not approve of the fact that she portrays a character on television that doesn't reflect her Christian faith.
Orji reveals, "Even
with the role of Molly some people are like, 'how can you be a
Christian and play this role?' I don't curse in real
life but for me cursing in a film or a TV show is not a deal breaker for
me."
*I love it when people take a stand for Jesus even in secular entertainment. So is it really possible to be born-again and still act in secular movies?
When it comes to overtly sexual scenes, Orji said communication with her production company is key.
"I'm able to use my words and communicate with the production company and the directors and everyone just to get on the same page and say, 'Hey, listen: I have a brand that I want to protect. I understand this character has different things that she wants to convey. How do we marry the two whereby I can still protect my brand and I can still live in the truth of this character?' "
Last year, Orji revealed in an interview that she would remain a virgin until she got married.

When her career first began, Orji knew she
had to set boundaries for herself so that her faith wouldn't be
compromised in the chaotic entertainment industry.
