Big brother Naija was just concluded last night and thankfully I didn't watch a single episode. Not interested, thank you.
I am sure the organizers are having a blast because their show was successful. Oh yeah, it was! People were so into it they spent millions of naira in support. I read 11 million people voted for the show in one week.
An obsessed lady even threatened to kill herself if her candidate (Efe) doesn't win. Smh. Actually, I didn't see that as a joke. It was blatant idolatry.
I am sure when these housemates were selected, before the show even got started, they were orientated to keep their teeming viewers entertained and they sure did - with lots of controversies, lies, lewd/sexual acts and nudity.
It's all a staged, well planned out strategy to garner viewership. It is what it is - a show and funny, people are killing themselves for it and spending their hard earned cash on it. Oh sorry, it's just N30 to vote.
But multiply N30 by 11 million, that's how much in just one week talk more the total number of people who voted for the past two or so months the show was being aired. Wow. That's something. Yet we say we no get money. That's a lot of money paid just for fun.
You can't separate sex from Big brother if not the show will crash because it will be boring and the organizers don't want that. That's why you see the housemates trying to keep up their games by doing something sexual or controversial with a little mix of 'the good ones' too.
I believe so much they were told, "If you want to keep your games up, do something crazy. Nobody wants to watch a boring reality TV show. Add spice. Sex sells."
And so, the sexual side of Big brother keeps the people hooked and somehow, I know the housemates will be compensated for these acts.
With this recorded success of BBNaija, expect another episode of BBnaija possibly before the year runs out. It's just the perfect money making machine that fills up the pocket of the producers and yet adds no value to its viewers.
