What does the Easter Bunny got to do with the Resurrection of Jesus? This will be totally worth your read-)
The devil is a specialist in taking the attention of men away from Jesus to some other vague thing.
Just like how the world's attention is on Santa Claus during Christmas, the Easter Bunny is the world's attention during Easter period.
This makes people completely oblivious to the real reason of the celebration - Jesus.
I asked myself over and over again what exactly is the connection between Easter period and this bunny (which is a rabbit or hare) and definitely there is a pagan undertone. So please read on.
The Easter holiday was originally a pagan celebration that worshiped the goddess Eastre. She was the goddess of fertility and springtime and her earthly symbol was the rabbit.
The bunny was believed to Eastre's earthly incarnation. Easter has been known by many names: Ostra, Ostrara, Ostara, Eostre and Eastre.
This article also makes better explanation of it:
THE NAME EASTER ACTUALLY COMES FROM ISHTAR / EASTER WHO WAS WORSHIPED AS THE MOON GODDESS, THE GODDESS OF SPRING AND FERTILITY, AND THE QUEEN OF HEAVEN.
SHE IS KNOWN BY SO MANY OTHER NAMES IN OTHER COUNTRIES AND CULTURES THAT SHE IS OFTEN REFERRED TO AS THE GODDESS OF ONE THOUSAND NAMES. MILLIONS OF PEOPLE ARE UNKNOWINGLY WORSHIPING AND PRAYING TO THIS PAGAN GODDESS TODAY. WHAT IS HER PRESENT-DAY NAME?
The Babylonians celebrated the day of Ishtar/Easter as the return of the goddess of Spring – the re-birth or reincarnation of Nature and the goddess of Nature.
Babylonian legend says that each year a huge egg would fall from heaven and would land in the area around the Euphrates River.
In her yearly re-birth, Ishtar would break out of this egg and if any of those celebrating this occasion happened to find her egg, Ishtar would bestow a special blessing on that person.
Does this explain the origin of our modern- day tradition of Easter eggs and baskets and Easter egg hunts?
*I know the derivation of the word Easter that's why I feel more comfortable saying Happy resurrection and not happy Easter.
But the summary of what I am trying to say is while we Christians are celebration the death and resurrection of our Lord and King, the rest of the world is celebrating the Easter bunny who is said to be the incarnation of the fertility goddess Eastre.
