With curvaceous celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez etc, women want to look more and more like sex bombs. According to data, more than 10 million procedures were performed by the plastic surgeon in 2014 (USA). Plastic surgery procedures include liposuction, breast or butt augmentation and botox. Butt enlargement can be done in two ways: using solid silicone butt implants or by fat injection (also called Brazillian butt fill).

So, pop culture puts pressure on the society to look more curvaceous , more sexually appealing.The popularity of butt enhancement has led to illegal and sometimes fatal black market because they are cheaper and can easily be done in hotel rooms, garages etc. These unlicensed individuals have been known to use various substances for the procedures apart from silicone: kitchen oil,cement, crazy glue. With time , these synthetic substances tend to migrate to other regions of the body and cause irreparable damages, even death.

Paige-Victoria Windslowe, a transgender had no medical training and performed thousands of butt implant surgeries. She ( or I would rather say he)called herself the Michelangelo of butt injections. This transgender was found guilty of 3rd degree murder in the death of a 20 year old British woman whom she gave a silicone injection.
In 2011, Claudia Adetorimi,20, had Windslowe perform a butt enhancement surgery on her in an airport hotel room. She later died after the silicone traveled to her lungs, brain and liver, poisoning her.

Does this not call for caution? Whether your butt enhancement was done by a professional or not, anything can go wrong. This is a dangerous trend fueled by the insatiable desire to be attractive, accepted and worshiped. Whether you are flat chested or busty, bootilicious or not, curvy or straight, until we learn to appreciate and love ourselves, our bodies, we may never be happy. You are special just the way you are. Choose your role models wisely and don't be fooled by their fake lives. I hope you make a wise decision.
