Watching epic movies on African magic, I can't stop wondering why 98% of the Nollywood epics end with "I will confess! I will confess!". Seriously, it's getting real boring..*yawns* They are just synonymous to Yoruba movies where almost all the time (if not every time sef), the bad guy either dies or runs mad. Really?! I'm sure most of you identify with me.
Also, why must 98% of these epic movies be fetish? Me thinks it's not the right representation for Nigeria out there. These non- Nigerians, especially the whites go dey think say we get native doctor for every street in Naija. Must we always include diabolism in all our movies? Why must Chinwetalu Agu be a bad man and a womanizer in all his movies? Why must Olu Jacobs be a king and Ngozi Ezeonu the queen? Why are our stories and characters so stereotyped? Thank God for people like Kunle Afolayan who are making a break through in Nigerian movie industry. If na only people like Ugezu Ugezu wey we get for Nollywood...I no fit talk *lol*
I come dey watch one movie like that recently. Mehn! See hospital where they put this female patient. It was so obvious the room was dirty. The wall, the bed, even cupboard, all stained. The lower compartment of the cupboard was covered with a dirty white material. Hah! I kept wondering if the people who produced this movie did not have money to get a better facility for their movie. Police station nko? No be small thing o! How do we expect to rebrand Nigeria and make foreigners think well of us when we keep making these kind of movies. Any way na cheap movies dem dey do...Onitsha made. Kudos to those producers who are stepping up and leaving the stereotypes behind. Who invest money to make quality movies. They are the ones that bag the awards.
*Abeg I just dey yarn my mind...lol
