A man strolled by and God beckoned on him.
"Please carry
that table to the end of the hall," God
instructed. The man took one cursory look at the large mahogany table squatting
monstrously at the corner. It obviously looked heavy and not something
one person could carry. So the man curtly refused saying,
"Hah!
Sir, just looking at that table, it will be impossible to even move it an inch! I can't do it.. .", and
he left without looking back.
he left without looking back.
Another man came by and God approached him with the same request. This time the man complied and tried moving the table. But the table was so heavy it couldn't budge.
"Well sir..," he quipped, "...you see I've tried but it won't move," and he went his way.
A third man came along and God made the same request. The man humbly obeyed but he said,
" Sir, I really would want to move your table but I can't do it alone. Please help me.." And together, they were able to move the table with so much ease.
Have you ever wondered why you still struggle with sin even as a Christian, why it seems like has God not given you the strength to
stop?
Have you considered that you may have been doing it in your strength all along just like the second man? Like the first man rightly observed, it is impossible to live righteous. It will take God to help us do so.
So have you asked Him to take over so that hand in hand you can live victoriously? AS long as you continue to try to be righteous in your own feeble strength, you will continue to struggle. Stop making excuses to sin. Learn to lean on God's strength not yours.
It's not your ability but His ability in and through you!
