How can I handle my troublesome mother-in-law?

Agatha's mother in law (MIL) won't let her be. She's always breathing down her neck. There's nothing Agatha would do that seems to please her, so how should Agatha handle her MIL as a good Christian woman?

Now, dealing with troublesome in laws can be very tricky but with wisdom we can put a stop to it or get it under control. I know a lot of women are going through this. So consider these hows.

1. Avoid any confrontation with her:  Yes, don't lash back at her, rather put your anger in check. Be quick to listen, slow to speak and be slow to anger...(Jam 1:19)  and simply CHOOSE to ignore and overlook. Choose because it's a deliberate action on your part not have any physical face off/altercation with your in law. It's not easy though but we can do all things through Christ that strengthens us.

2. Tell your husband: You will be doing more harm than good if you confront your in law yourself. Your husband should be the one in the best position to show his mother her place, most times in strong terms. So tell your hubby about how his mom treats you so that he can get to the bottom of the matter.

3. Keep your distance: That's one of the ways to avoid trouble. U are simply keeping out of your in law's way while u go about your business. Do it respectfully, not sarcastically. This is enough to pass a message to her that u simply don't want her wahala.

 4. Silence: If she still goes out of her way to harass u, keep your composure and pretend u didn't notice. Ignoring someone can be a powerful tool for subduing that one. Ur silence at her rants makes u unpredictable and it can scare her too. Lol!

5. Show her love (Rom 12:20): You know why? Cos love always wins. 'Owe no one anything but love'(Rom 13:8). What ever happens, what ever she does, love her, respect her, tolerate her, be courteous, don't give her an attitude, only let the peace that passes all understanding keep your heart and your mind by Christ Jesus (Phil 4:7).

6. Pray for her: Prayer works. Pray for your MIL and since the heart of the king is God's hand.., turning it whichever way He wills (Pro 21:1),  then be assured that your prayer made in faith can change everything. It may take years but believe the God who can do all things.
