Jose Luis de Jesus Miranda refers to himself as “Jesus Christ Man". He is from Puerto Rico and the leader of a cult sect called 'Growing in Grace' based in Miami.
Miranda once believed that he was the reincarnation of the apostle Paul.
Then two years later he proclaimed himself as Jesus Christ saying that “God merged
with me [and] . . . the resurrected Jesus . . . integrated/infiltrated
himself within me.”
He teaches that the devil, hell and sin don't exist, that prayer is a waste of time and that the Ten
Commandments (moral or ethical guidelines) are irrelevant.
He claims he is greater than Jesus Christ
and that his teachings supersede those of Christ. He even refers to
himself as the Antichrist and sports a “666” tattoo on his forearm,
claiming that since He is Christ, worship of Jesus Christ is invalid.
Speaking to CNN he said , "666 means do not put your eyes on Jesus Christ of Nazareth but rather put it on Jesus after the cross...and that's me."
His followers also received the 666 tattoos to declare their
allegiance to him. He even promised them a transformation that will make them walk through walls and pass through fire without being burnt.
His responses during interviews are startling: “I am greater than him .
. . I teach better than him . . . I won’t die. Even if you tried to
kill me! I will be president of the biggest government that this earth
has experienced. I’m going to change the whole world.”
Despite all of his claims, Miranda died of liver Cirrhosis in Aug 8, 2013 at 67. Miranda's death has remained controversial among his followers.
Publicly, his church has continued to insist that Miranda has not died
and that he is immortal.
