*Exhales* Now the reason why men cheat…hmmm, the million dollar question very woman would like answered. I have been doing a lot of pondering myself on this issue.
Is it that wifey isn’t beautiful, sexy, curvy, bootilicious, busty? Or is it that she is a nag? A bad cook? Not good in bed? Not smart? Has she lost her sex appeal? Or has he fallen out of love with her? Is wifey starving him of sex? Is it the self-belief that variety is the spice of life, that making love to just one woman is boring? Or maybe it’s hormonal, they can’t control their high libido? Is it their idea of fun? Or is it just nature, a typical male factor? Does it make them more of a man? Well, sometimes it could be any of these reasons. It could also be because some men just can’t do without sex. They have been sexually active from a very young age, frolicking with different types of women thus making it difficult for them to stay faithful to one woman. These men are sexually insatiable. They may not have any reason to cheat (because their wife has it all. She is everything a good wife can be) yet they cheat all the same. So it’s different strokes for different folks. Different men, different reasons.
With the stories I hear every day, even in Church, cheating has become a household name and there seems to be no end of it in sight. So much so that some women have accepted it as one of those ‘man things’ they just have to live with, after all why fight what you are powerless over? Really, at this time, it is terribly difficult to find a single man who is faithful to his wife. I believe there are faithful guys out there but where? Why are they scarce, even in Church? How many men out there can vouch to being faithful to their wives? *Shaking my head* Such men are rare. I am not exempting the women because they also do cheat sometimes, but because men have been tagged chronic cheats and it’s believed that women tend to be more faithful in a relationship than men, that’s why I want to focus on the men folk.
Now men have different reasons to justify their infidelity but the truth is that cheating is merely human nature and it takes a higher nature in us, the God-nature, to keep us from cheating. Just like our human nature tends to make us commit any other kind of sin, so also does it give every man the tendency to cheat but to give in to it is totally our call( up to us). There is a limit to which human strength can go. It is the God in us, the Holy Spirit, who helps us and gives us the power to say no to sex sin. He does in us what man can not possibly do.
A man’s wife maybe all that: Beautiful, smart, sexy, busty in fact she has and does everything her man wants but these factors are still not enough to make a man not to cheat. One word summarizes all these men’s excuses: lust. A man who is given to lust have no self control. It takes a man who truly fears God to be in control of his body. He is no slave to lust.
I know you will ask me, “If that is so, why do you still have Pastors or even self professed Christians who cheat on their wives?” I will still say this, “They have lost the fear of God”. For a man to continually indulge in infidelity is a pointer that he doesn’t fear God anymore. One time a man may have made the mistake (like we all do)but to continue in that mistake makes him a slave to it. A man may cheat on his wife just once and he repents from it totally and never goes back to it just like David, before God he is no more a cheating husband. A cheating husband is one who continues to indulge in the act of infidelity against his wife. So this is about the serial cheats not the past ones.
Cheating on one’s spouse can be done mentally or physically. So whether you bodily have sex with the woman or you just imagined or fantasized about her in your mind, it’s the same thing. None is worse than the other because both bear the same consequence. Think I am lying? Jesus said so(See Matthew 5:28).
So what does a man do to keep from cheating? I know we all have had our moments when we are tempted to do something wrong and you feel a tugging in your spirit not to give in to the sexual pressure at that time. Until a man recognizes that infidelity is wrong and is one sin he can overcome through Christ, makes a definite decision to be faithful to his spouse, ask for God’s help knowing how weak he is and that he cannot do it on his own, feeding his system with God’s Word and focusing his fantasies only on his wife, then finally taking a cue from Joseph to resist and run, he may never win the battle. Even if your spouse doesn't have it all, you should learn to love her that way all the same. That is the power of unconditional love. Bear in mind nobody, not even you, is perfect.
To the ladies, let’s help our husbands by doing our part as good wives and hand them over to God daily in prayer. Pray for him and your marriage always. Be a praying wife. So as you are taking care of the physical diligently, God is handling the spiritual surely. And then have faith that God will keep your man from falling, for God never fails.
Jesus said, “My Father is above all. What is given to Him is safe, it cannot be plucked out of His hands.” End of the matter. Tshikena!
