A Nigerian celebrity,Tonto Dikeh, once admitted to a suicide attempt. Michael Jackson, the king of pop ,died in his room at 50 due drug overdose. Elvis Presley, the king of rock and roll died at 47. It was all suicide. To a lay man, these men lack nothing so they are considered comfortable and happy. But how wrong we are whenever associate happiness and comfort to materialism. Why would these celebrities even contemplate suicide in the first place? How come that in the midst of all their possessions, they still feel lonely and lost ,like most of them attest to before finally committing suicide? That means all of what the world has to offer: wealth, power, affluence etc can not satisfy. Is there something must be missing within them, something don't have that they ought to have?
When there is within your life a void, it brings to you a sense of emptiness, hopelessness and despair! Nothing around you makes sense, you lose interest in life and begin to stay away from people. Even when you are in the midst of friends, fans and family, you feel all alone. Sadness overwhelms you and you don't see the light in tomorrow. You feel there is no reason to live and you seek a way out. That is the mindset of a depressed person. The first thing he wants to do is to turn to alcohol or drugs or sex or anything that he feels can get him high and make him forget his sorrows. Hundred percent of the time they never work, I assure you. So what's next? He simply doesn't know what's wrong but he knows that something's not right. Not knowing what to do anymore, he begins to contemplate suicide as a way out. The thought of death seems appealing. The thought of death connotes freedom to him. He begins to welcome the thought. It feels so refreshing that thought that finally through death he will be free. This is what depression is like. I am just painting a graphic picture of it so you will know before I continue. There is a vacuum, an emptiness, a void within his heart. The presence of this vacuum makes him depressed. No matter how much he tries to fill that emptiness with the wrong things, the worse his situation. There's only one 'thing' that can rightly fill that vacuum and take depression away forever. You want to know? I will show you if you follow me...
The world seeks scientific explanations for everything and rule out the spiritual. They are so carnal that spirituality means nothing at all to them. Unlike Christians who walk by faith and not by sight, they walk and believe only in what they see. That's why they say homosexuality is either a medical disorder or its in the genes and depression is a medical problem. So to take care of depression they procure anti-depressant drugs as a treatment. It's unfortunate that they are looking the wrong way. A lasting solution to depression is GOD. God is the only one who can fill up that void that gets us depressed. He alone gives us a reason to live. Have you seen a Spirit filled Christian? He is a clear evidence that there is no depression in Christ! When we allow God to rightfully take His place in our lives, depression disappears. Do not believe it when they tell you that your depression is medically instigated. It's a spiritual thing and it's clearly demonic, that's why no matter how much you try to get rid of it, it gets worse.
