Ronke and the escalating cases of domestic violence: Is marriage a sham?

Ronke Shonde. That's the name of the beautiful woman recently murdered by her husband, Lekan. It has become the most popular case of domestic violence lately, inspiring more and more victims of domestic violence to come out and share their story.

And these domestic violence stories are getting some people scared of ever committing to marriage.

A popular Nigerian actress, Halima Abubakar, wrote on her social media page:

I DON'T WANT TO EVER GET MARRIED. THOSE IN IT ARE MISERABLE. FORGET THE SMILING.

But why wouldn't she think so, when there tend to be more stories of bad marriages (see Tiwa Savage, Toke Makinwa etc) than good ones.

But despite the escalating statistics, there are still very beautiful marriages out there but you hardly have media carry such stories. Even when they do, it doesn't make as much buzz as the negative ones. Bad news travel faster and more widely than good news.

Now,this ish will make people begin to feel: 'Why is marriage necessary sef? Why must I go into this sham called marriage in the first place? Must I be married to have children?'

In other words, many are beginning to doubt the concept of marriage and it's only a matter of time when marriage may become outdated. People will just resort to open marriages, co-habitation, engagement etc because they don't want to be 'tied down' or 'imprisoned' in marriage.

Family is the nucleus of the society

Marriage is the coming together of a man and woman to start a family as one. It isn't just a civil union, it is also an emotional, physical and spiritual union between one man and one woman. It is a divine institution.

Battlefortruth.org says that marriage is designed for sex and sex is designed for marriage, non-marital sex ultimately harms the individual and society.

And to destroy the society is Satan's game plan as he works so hard to discredit marriage by poisoning the hearts of the people to see no good in it.

Please don't be afraid or allow these stories deter you from doing what's right. God wants the best for you, so always get Him involved in your every decision and watch Him lead you.
