The young man kept his eyes fixed on the cross. His face was creased with a frown as he concentrated on his object of interest. The cross, that old rugged cross upon which He died. He reflected on His last moments: the denial, the rejection, the torture, the pain, the cajoling from a crowd once thrilled by His miracles. This very same crowd called for His crucifixion. The very people He loved and cared for. But it was destined that He died, that salvation may come to the same people who called for His death. That was His mission, His ultimate purpose: that He may die, that His blood be shed so that man may be delivered from Satan’s power. Like the Passover Lamb, He was slaughtered for sacrifice.
The young man reminisced on what really must have happened while He hung there bleeding, weak, thirsty and dying. What went on behind the scenes, in the spiritual, where human eyes can’t see when He finally released His spirit as He breathed His last? He saw the devil bowed in defeat when he (devil) suddenly realized the BIG mistake he had made in crucifying the only Begotten Son. Oh! If only he had known! But it could never have occurred to him…weary, wretched soul. God has again dealt him a blow that will leave him forever blistered and defeated. Sure he didn’t know that God had another package for him in 3 days time. If only he knew, he would never have crucified the Lord of Glory.
*Why not take out time and think on what Jesus did for you, His death, His resurrection. It’s gloriously powerful and guess what? He did it all just for you…
