The President of Venezuela Nicholas Maduro, while touring one of the local communities with a bus was hit just above the left ear with a mango by a woman named Marleny Olivo. But rather than calling for her arrest, he calmly picked the fruit and showed it to the crowd. The mango had the woman’s telephone number and she asked for the president to be in touch with her.Later, the president discussing the incident in one of his television broadcasts explained that the woman is having a housing crises.He then told the woman that she will be getting her new home within the next few hours. The President was a former bus driver. There is nothing like a leader who has been there before. It puts him in a better position to understand what the people he is leading pass through. There was a bomb explosion in one of the election venues during Saturday's Governorship elections in Aba. This happened at Okigwe road Primary School, Aba. According to an eye witness, the ground reverberated with the explosion but gladly enough nobody died. It was non-fatal possibly because the explosion occurred in one of the classrooms. One of the culprits believed to have planted the bomb was caught hiding in the ceiling while he was about to set off another bomb closer to where people who came for voting were. The people beat up the man, hitting and stabbing him before the police arrived and whisked him away to their station. Despite the unfortunate situation, it did not deter people from casting their votes. Wow, that's so patriotic of these people. The Inspector-General of Police, Mr Suleiman Abba, has ordered restriction of vehicular movement in the 36 states, from 8a.m. to 5p.m. for the governorship and House of Assembly elections on Saturday. This is contained in a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Mr Emmanuel Ojukwu, on Thursday in Abuja. The statement explained that the measure was to ensure safety and security during the polls. “There is no restriction of vehicular movement in the Federal Capital Territory as there is no election taking place there on the said date,’’ the statement said. One of the reasons why I choose these stories is for it to serve as an eye opener to us on what is happening right in the church so that we can make corrections and change. According to a reliable source,a church located in Asaba ,Delta state had about 49 shops to lease out. Forms were sold to people who were interested in obtaining the few shops for #1000. Knowing so well that they had limited shops available, they went on to sell the forms to over 500 people. At the end of the day, they gave out the shops to just 49 people. There was no refund whatsoever. So please tell me: Why would a church continue to sell their forms knowing fully well that the available shops were few? Is this not sheer wickedness? The Super bug is a drug-resistant bacteria that resides in the intestines. It has sickened more than 200 people in U.S since May 2014, health officials said on Thursday. The cause was travelers returning from overseas and introducing the illness in a series of outbreaks across the country. It was during my antenatal that I first heard about pregnant women who had to be remanded to bed rest for days, weeks or throughout the span of their pregnancy. I was shocked. A few days remanded to a bed could be tortuous but for months? That is something no one would not want to deal with. It was not because they planned it that way but because of certain conditions they may be having in their pregnancy. One of these conditions is what is called the loose or incompetent cervix. The incompetent cervix is a condition in which the cervix is likely to open/dilate prematurely and when this happens, the life of the baby is threatened because the baby is born prematurely. So depending on how critical the woman’s situation is, she may be remanded to different categories of bed rest. On Wednesday, New York State assembly passed an abortion bill which allows 3rd trimester abortion using procedures like a shot of poison to the baby’s heart by medical professionals who necessarily don’t have to be doctors. The bill will expand the NY law which now only allows abortion in the 3rd trimester when the mother’s life is in danger to permitting abortion up to 9 months of pregnancy. The bill also seeks to make it legal for a woman to have an abortion for any reason ‘relevant to the wellbeing of the patient’. This reason could be physical, emotional or psychological.
