Suicide used to be alien in Nigeria but these days it has become a common thing.
There is no day I open up blogs and tabloids that I don't see 'So so so committed suicide', 'So so so took sniper'. People even make suicide posts and tweets on social media and they end up actually carrying them out. It's sad.
A demonic wave of domestic violence, murder, suicide, pornography, sexual immorality has hit the earth and it's growing stronger. It has become an epidemic.
People are going through stuffs and rather than tell anyone, they choose to bottle it all up inside.
This fills them with pain, depression, resentment, bitterness, the feeling of rejection and yes, suicidal thoughts. They find comfort in the thought of 'ending it all' cos all they see is bleakness, hopelessness and emptiness. They feel no one will understand what they are going through.
For those who are suicidal, the very first step to healing is to open up to someone about your problem, what you have been through. It helps a whole lot.
That's why people who want to beat a habit attend gatherings like 'alcohol anonymous' etc where they can open up to people like themselves who are going through the same challenges in order to get every encouragement and advice they need to beat their problem.
Or talk to a therapist concerning their habit. Speak up. Talk to someone. Bottling it up inside will further cause a build up of bitterness and it will keep growing until it chokes you.
One thing the devil does to keep someone trapped is by preventing that person to talk. Whether it's the feeling of shame or inferiority complex or the fear of stigmatization or the thought that no one will understand, break through those demonic lies playing out in your head and talk to your friend, your pastor or to anyone who is spiritually matured.
And most importantly talk to God your Father. He cares so much for you and understands much more than you do, what you are going through.
And if you a Christian, please listen: The harvest is ripe but the laborers are few. There are so many people around us feeling empty, searching for answers, desiring joy and peace but they can't seem to find it because even we the Christians are so busy we have no time for evangelism.
Make it a point of your Christian duty to LOVE and show genuine care. Let everyone around you matter to you. That is what God wants. That is what evangelism is all about- telling people about Jesus through your love and actions.
*Suicide is NOT the end of your problem. It's just the beginning. Talk to someone. Get help. There is HOPE.
