Prof Stephen Hawkins said that humans will die out within 1,000 years unless we leave Earth.
In a summit in Washington DC, Winston Beauchamp, deputy undersecretary of the Air Force for space, said nations must work together to 'get the human race off this planet onto another planet.'
He said: 'We need to be able to operate in space both to advance our state of technology and eventually get the human race off this planet onto another planet.
In 2010, an eminent Australian scientist Professor Frank Fenner, who helped to wipe out smallpox, predicted humans will probably be extinct within 100 years, because of overpopulation, environmental destruction and climate change.
So what's this all about?
Well, at least we agree on one thing: that this world will have an end.
