Manipulation and brainwashing are the major tactics of so called religious leaders who gather vulnerable and frustrated individuals and lure them to their deaths.
At the end of the day be provoked to ask yourself ,"Who do I listen to?"
The People's Temple Cult (Jonestown, Guyana 1978)
This cult started in the 1950s by a self-declared messiah, Jim Jones. He enacted the biggest mass suicide in recent times when he ordered his followers to drink a deadly mix of poison in November the 18th, 1978.
913 followers plus 300 children died.
Heaven's Gate (USA 1997)
A cult started by Applewhite and Nettles believed that they had to shed every aspect of their human existence on planet Earth in order to be eligible for the “new level”- their own version of eternal happiness, peace, and escape from human torture and suffering.
So in March the 20th, 1997 at San Diego California, 39 disciples of Heaven’s Gate decided to 'evacuate' the earth by committing suicide.
They killed themselves by drinking phenobarbital mixed with apple sauce and washing it down with vodka.
After ingesting a lethal dosage of poison, each member wrapped a plastic bag around their head to leave nothing to chance.
When the lifeless bodies were found by the authorities, they were all comfortably lying on their bunk beds – dressed in identical outfits: black pants and shirts, Nike sneakers, and armband patches reading “Heaven’s Gate Away Team”.
Aum Shinrikyo (Japan 1995)
It was founded by Shoko Asahara who likes to wear satin pajamas, proclaimed himself as the reincarnated Jesus Christ himself and Japan’s only fully enlightened master.
This doomsday cult whose beliefs were mixed Tibetan and Theravada Buddhist teachings, laced with western Biblical prophecies, started in 1984 as a yoga and meditation class.
March 20, 1995, the cult released a nerve gas in a subway killing 13 people and injuring over 1000 people.
Shoko was sentenced to death by hanging.
Branch Davidians (1993)
Created by David Koresh who believed that the second coming of Christ was at hand and assembled with his followers in a compound named Mt. Carmel.
In Feb 28 1993, following a 51 day siege, 80 members of the group died (possibly by their decision) when the compound burned to the ground following an attempted entrance by FBI agents.
*Lives lost for nothing. Lives lost over false doctrines. Smh. This is one of the signs of times.
Jesus said, "Many will come in my Name saying 'I am He' and 'The time is near' (Luke 21:8) and will deceive many...(Matt 24:5)"
And that is rightly the case in these occurrences. Till date the world is looking for a 'messianic' figure who will come and 'save' the situation in the world but unfortunately they have failed to notice 'the Lamb crucified'. The Messiah has come, died and rose again but the world would never understand this.
I pray God opens their eyes to see the Truth.
Jesus said, "my yoke is easy and My burden is light.." yet some people want the hard way.
At the end of the day be provoked to ask yourself ,"Who do I listen to?"
