"Prayer does not work anymore."
Yes, that's what many people think, especially because they have prayed and prayed and prayed, fasted, prayed, cried, prayed and there seems to be no answer. It's like God has suddenly become silent prolly because He went on vacation or He is sleeping or He is attending to more important people or He just doesn't care!
Listen dearie, nothing gives God more pleasure than to attend to the needs of His children. A parent can't see his child in tears and turn away, would he? I know what I feel for my children, how much more God?
"Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you!" Is 49:15
When God employs His delay tactics, He does it for a reason, not because He enjoys seeing you suffer but because He is molding you.
So before you are quick to conclude that prayer does not work please consider how you pray:
1. Have you repented genuinely of any sin lurking in your life?
Sin is one thing that hinders prayers. Proof? Is 59:1-2
Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save,

Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save,
nor his ear too dull to hear.
But your iniquities have separated
you from your God;
your sins have hidden his face from you,
so that he will not hear.
If you are married, what is your relationship with your spouse like? Are you treating your wife right? Wife, are you treating your husband right?
"..you husbands must give honor to your wives. Treat your wife with
understanding as you live together...Treat her as you
should so your prayers will not be hindered."
2. What is your motive for praying?
For everything we ask God for, there is a motive and God weighs the heart. When you pray with the wrong motive, don't expect anything.
"When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures." James 4: 3
3. Have you prayed in faith?
God responds to faith. So when you pray, are you actually expecting God to answer that prayer? Do you believe He will answer it? Some just pray for praying sake, no expectation, nothing, then why waste your time praying?
Faith waits. God promised Abraham that he will be the father of many nations. For years, Abraham did not see it coming. But today, God has fulfilled that promise. Waiting is painful. It is in waiting that your faith in God is tried.
So keep waiting on God for it. His answer may not come immediately at the time you expected it but it will never be late.
His answer may not be exactly what you expected but it will be the best for you.
And yes, prayer still works cos a prayer made in faith is potent, powerful and miraculous.
"The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective." James 5:16
Did you notice the condition in that Bible verse above? A righteous person. Take your time and think on that verse.

*So, are you praying right or praying amiss? When you have done everything right, then wait...
