Well-meaning church leaders would tell men to try harder—pray more, read
your Bible more and just "stop it." They didn't understand how watching
porn changes the physical structure of the brain. These men need a
process, that it's not a quick fix.
He explained the difference between brain scans of a healthy brain, a cocaine addict's brain and a porn addict's brain.
The porn addict's brain looked like Swiss cheese, almost identical to that of a cocaine addict. There was obvious loss of brain activity in the prefrontal cortex. So watching porn is like snorting digital cocaine—it becomes highly addictive.
It simply says that the key to overcoming sexual addiction is renewal of the mind, which is a process. There's no quick fix. It's hard work.
