Southern girl Crystal, then DiGregorio, grew up in North Carolina, USA, but moved to Hollywood after falling
pregnant at 16.
The 33-year-old spent her first few years in Hollywood working as a model, dancer and competing in pole competitions.
However, desperate to support her son Justin, now 16, Crystal met with an adult film director - and found out she could be earning an enormous £25,000-a-month.
Crystal starred in her first film, set at a house in Malibu, soon after this meeting - and didn't look back for an entire decade.
The mum-of-three said: “I remember after the scene, I sat in the shower for about two hours crying.
“Then I stopped after that shoot and didn’t go back for about one month.
“I ended up going back to it again and that’s when I was numbing myself through taking pain medicine and drinking alcohol to get through the scene.
“It just became like this daily routine for me where I would drop my son off to school in the morning, go do a shoot and come home. It was like a regular 9 to 5 job.”
At the top of her game Crystal, who has featured in more than 100 films, was earning nearly £250,000-a-year.
She was living in a mansion, driving flash sports cars and even owned her own nightclub - called Club Crystal.
However, she was also drinking heavily - and hiding her secret shame.
Crystal added: “I just lived for myself and my son and didn’t really think about the consequences of making films and dancing and everything.
"I started to become an object. I wouldn’t walk outside my house without showing cleavage, having a belly shirt on and high heels. It was like had to constantly look like the sex symbol.”
A nasty car accident in May 2014 and abusive relationship made Crystal see the world differently, and she eventually found God.
The former porn star, who also has a seven-year-old son called Landon from a previous relationship, soon welcomed their 16-month-old baby Carter with her new hubby.
After shunning the world of adult acting, Crystal trained as a paralegal at college - and then as a pastor.
She and David have now founded their own church, called New Beginnings Christian Life, in Fulton, New York.
"I never saw myself going this extreme, but God leads you in these directions," Bassette said when she first started dating her husband, Dave.
"I regretted it," Bassette said of her time in the industry. "But then I think to myself, If I didn't do those things, where would I be today? This is what my heart is for. And it's something I feel can help a lot and change people's lives."
